Peep Toe Mania

Oh we made it! The holidays are over and now the countdown foe Spring begins. By the end of February my little piggies are itching to get some fresh air and nothing gives them that little early taste of warmer weather than peep-toe shoes. There are so many to choose from so you won't have a problem finding ones that will accessorize your wardrobe.

I personally love these shoes and have found myself investing in more and more of them (I am guilty of having a ridiculous obsession with shoes!) I find that they are great year round shoe because you can find ones that will give your feet more coverage from the cold (see # 2 and 4 above) in the winter months yet they provide great breathability during the warmer times of the year.

They are also SO versatile. They are wedding appropriate, jeans and a tee appropriate and/or even can be worn with a flowy peasant dress. Plus, the cut outs and laces are just plain sexy! Below are some outfits ideas of how you can style out your peep toe shoes now.

Wow, It's Been a Month!

The holidays definitely kicked my butt! Between shopping, school festivities, decorating, parties, school break, kids getting sick, snowboarding etc. etc. I barely had a chance to open my computer. For this New Year I am going to try really hard to write more blog posts :) 

So there, I said it!!! Now I have to and you can call me out if I don't. Happy 2014 everyone!

Holiday Party Wear

It is GO time! Thanksgiving week is here and that usually also means the kick off for holiday parties. This can bring great stress to many people. I find that my clients stress over what they are going to wear because they want to look festive but also not over do it. This is wear I suggest SEQUINS! A little bit of sparkle can go a long way and I tend to run it from Thanksgiving thru New Years pretty heavily. And why not?! Sequin adds a little special extra to head to toe black. it can also distract from any problem areas you may have. Are you bottom heavy but have toned arms? Wear black skinny jeans and the striped black and white top to steer everyones eyes to your Madonna arms! Do you have a great waistline?? Wrap a sparkly skinny belt around a fitted dress to show it off. Regardless of what you look like, adding some sparkle will put you in the holiday mood and can transform you from BLAH to WOW.

WARNING: Wear only one article of clothing or accessory with sequins or sparkle on it at a time so that people don't confuse you on the dance floor for the disco ball!

I Am Thankful //

This year is the first year in a few that we will not be going back to California this winter. We never go back fro Thanksgiving because it is too far to travel for such a short trip. We really try to not go more than 6-8 months without seeing my family and we have been fortunate enough to be able to go back often. 

I've tried not to think about the fact we won't be there because i get very emotional! LOL. Last week i texted my mom that it was really hitting me that we weren't coming out and she (being the amazing mom that she is) said "I know, this Christmas will be different BUT we are healthy and you have each other. God will provide. I love you guys with all my heart." 

After reading that I remembered how blessed I am to have such amazing parents. My mom was right, I have 3 healthy kids, a wonderful husband and a great group of friends that have become our East Coast family.

So, thank you Mom and Dad. I am beyond thankful to have you as parents and for reminding me how blessed we truly are.

One of the most popular services I provide is closet styling. It is my favorite service because I love reinventing my client's wardrobes.

Many women think that they have nothing to wear when they open up their closet's but the truth is that most of the time they feel this way because they end up wearing the same pieces the same way and therefore only get 1 look instead of 3 or 4. My job is to make multiple outfits from the items they already have in their wardrobe. It is always surprising to my clients how they actually have many fashionable and up-to-date pieces.

Mellie's Pregancy Style // Milkshop Special

Dress your Feet

There's no denying my obsession with shoes. They can make an outfit go from OK to amazing. Kinda like the cherry on top of a sundae :) My favorites are the camel lace ups and the blue suede boots.

Sur La Table Cooking Class

Last Thursday 2 girl friends and I headed down to The Westchester Mall to take a cooking class at Sur La Table. I really had no idea what to expect but we were all so excited to be kid-free and had a couple glasses of wine before and showed up to class ready to Bobby Flay it up!

Once we got there we were greeted by Chef Ali Banks and her staff. They were incredibly friendly and showed up to our individual chairs that had our own aprons and name tags.

Pretty soon the room was filled with women and we were ready to cook! There was a beautiful array of cutlery, cookware, gadgets and food. There were moments when we would just look at each other and laugh because the chef would tell us to grab a utensil and we had no idea what it was... mandolin? LOL. Well now we know. 

We made Zucchini Fritters with Lemon Basil Cream, Moroccan Chicken Skewers with Herb Sauce, White Bean and Pancetta Bruschetta with Rosemary but my favorite was the  Butternut Squash and Stilton Tart. It was INSANELY DELICIOUS. We had a night of laughter, met new women and learned new recipes to bring home and impress the boys with. 

Chef Ali made everything really easy to learn as well as fun. She is such a sweet person and I cannot recommend her classes enough. You also get 15% off your purchase for taking the class and we made the most of that during our break. Check out the pictures attached (my friends and I can't take serious pictures sorry!).
